SUNY Maritime College invites applications for an Adjunct Lecturer of Chemistry to teach General Chemistry I with lab. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, effective teaching strategies, and the ability to support students in this foundational chemistry course. Typical students are majoring in engineering and marine environmental science, with the majority of students simultaneously pursuing a U.S. Coast Guard license.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering lectures and lab instruction and conducting assessments
  • Teach courses General Chemistry I Lecture and Lab at the undergraduate level



Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Able to teach chemistry at the undergraduate level
  • A minimum of a master's degree in a closely related field

Preferred Qualification:

  • Prior teaching experience at the college level
  • Previous experience teaching introductory chemistry courses at the college level



Additional Information:

Classification/Salary Range: The Adjunct Lecturer position is a part-time UUP position. Effective July 1, 2025, the minimum three-credit course or equivalent rate will be $4,500. Special Notes: This is a part time per semester or academic year appointment that is subject of budget approval. Fair Labor Standard Acts (FLSA) Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.
