GENERAL MAINTENANCE WORKER

GRADE: Non-Exempt; Regular Full-time

LOCATION: Downrange, Test Site D-3 / Pt. Saint Joe, FL – On Site

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The General Maintenance Worker must have the ability to read, interpret and apply technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams, schematics and similar guides and have the ability to use test equipment and common mechanic’s hand tools. Applicant must also meet the following requirements. (1) Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision reporting to the Section Lead or Site Manager. (2) Operate/repair grounds maintenance equipment: farm tractor, commercial mowers, chainsaws, string trimmers, portable generators. Responsibilities are mission support, and general facility maintenance at D-3.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Additional responsibilities include administrative, logistic, and quality control duties.
  • Some early morning and late evening work may be required as well as occasional work on weekends.
  • Operate a forklift and aerial lift, work from a ladder while wearing a respirator.
  • Must be able to work at heights and climb platform towers to heights of 100ft.
  • Crawl, bend, stoop, stand, work in confined spaces, and move or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Other job functions include general housekeeping and other job-related tasks.
  • May be required to handle hazardous material/hazardous waste.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:

OTHER DUTIES: Other functions include planning, estimates and providing guidance or instructions to lesser skilled personnel. May be required to handle hazardous materials and/or collect hazardous waste. May require housekeeping duties in assigned work areas.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must have either formal training, acquired through vocational certification or military service school training or a certified apprentice program, in at least one of the following disciplines: carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, cement work, concrete strength testing, range controlling, surveying, hydraulics, tower maintenance, small engine repair or painting , and 3 years of combined experience in at least two of the trades mentioned above, or 5 years verifiable experience in at least two the following disciplines: carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, cement work, range controlling, surveying, hydraulics, tower maintenance, or painting. Must have the ability to read, interpret and apply technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams, schematics and similar guides and have the ability to use test equipment and common mechanic’s hand tools.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Applicant is required to have a valid Drivers' License and be eligible to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Will be required to work outside in hot and cold weather.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires good physical conditioning; ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds, stand, bend, crawl, and work in awkward positions.
