Position Summary:

The Director, Accounting will be responsible for overseeing the accounting activities of our Seattle/SST business unit. This role includes managing the accounting department, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing transparent financial reporting to support the company’s objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in revenue recognition, excellent leadership skills, and a keen eye for detail.

 

Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate Accounts Receivable process to ensure timely and accurate billings to customers.
    • Coordinate Accounts Payable process with Corporate shared service team and the Seattle/SST team, ensuring timely and accurate payments to bona fide vendors.
    • Oversee appropriate project setups in Deltek Costpoint for customer contracts and internal projects.
    • Coordinate Human Resources and SST management process to ensure timely and accurate reporting of labor costs and related withholdings.
    • Manage monthly financial close process and timeline, including final review and posting of journal entries, analysis of P&L variance reports and publication of monthly results and statistical data via Comtech’s consolidation tool, OneStream.
    • Manage balance sheet ensuring all key accounts are reconciled, analyzed and accurately maintained.
    • Document and apply revenue recognition methodologies for customer contracts in compliance with ASC 606, Revenue Recognition.
    • Consult with operational and program finance managers, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures and timely review of project level information to ensure timely and accurate reporting of revenue and cost recognition.
    • Develop and maintain an effective overall internal control environment (including documentation), supporting Comtech’s entity-wide compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, tax laws and reporting requirements.
    • Coordinate with Comtech’s Compliance Officer and internal, external auditors to support audits and analyze and remediate identified control deficiencies, where applicable.
    • Manage relationships with internal and external auditors, including preparation of quarterly analysis, review of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
    • Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, provide professional development opportunities, and support career growth.
    • Collaborate with other departments to support overall company objective  

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, and financial reporting.
  • Proficient in financial software and ERP systems (Deltek Costpoint is preferred)
  • Strong advanced Microsoft Office and analytical skills, including financial modeling and analysis (e.g., Excel based workbooks, pivot tables, vlookups, etc.)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all members and levels of management.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 3 years in leadership role.
