Job Summary

Responsible for perform moving services for university community. Must be knowledgeable regarding all moving procedures. Safety and accuracy are critical to this process. Must ensure appropriate information is recorded on work order form and submit to management for processing. Ability to change and adjust to priorities accordingly. Must represent the university in a most professional way. Special projects as assigned. Moving Schedule: Monday through Friday – Overtime as required to include possible weekends, evenings and holidays, with little or no advance notice.


Essential Functions

Responsible for performing moving services for the university community. Must be knowledgeable regarding all moving procedures. Safety and accuracy are critical to this process. Ensure appropriate information is recorded on the work order form and submitted to management for processing. Ability to change and adjust to priorities accordingly. Must represent the university most professionally. May be asked to fill in as Building Receiver- details below—special projects as assigned.

Primary Duties: Include, but not limited to: loading, moving, packing cartons, and hauling furniture from buildings into vehicles. Utilizes various pieces of material handling equipment such as pallet movers, standup forklifts, pump tables, moving fours, refrigerator dollies, air table mover, stair climber and operates lift gates on trucks and other material handling equipment as needed. Completes assigned tasks delicately, using care not to damage customer items. Must be able to lift a minimum of seventy (70) pounds continuously. Must be capable to lift and move furniture up and down stairs repetitively. This position requires continuous physical activity. The incumbent will be required to perform duties associated with other classifications within the bargaining unit and must be flexible to change routine to accomplish the common goals of the organization. Exposure to various types of weather. Provide excellent customer service. Practice good safety habits. Special projects as assigned.

RECEIVING POSITION - AS NEEDED

Receiving: May be pulled as a mover to fill in for the receiver as deemed necessary.

Receiving Schedule: Monday through Friday - Overtime as required to include possible weekends, evenings, and holidays, with little or no advance notice.

Responsible for the sorting, delivery and pickup of mail and packages to and from campus buildings within an assigned route (may be off campus at times). Required to obtain signatures for delivered items when necessary. Load and unload vehicles. Accuracy and timeliness are critical to the delivery of all items. Special projects as assigned.

Primary Duties: Receiving and sorting of deliveries for various campus buildings to include: delivery of time-sensitive materials to individual rooms within an assigned building, and obtaining signatures when required. Ability to communicate effectively. Safety is critical to this process. Must represent the University most professionally.


Physical Effort
  • One year of moving experience, along with one year of experience to include moving furniture and equipment.
  • Must be able to engage in continuous physical activity to include climbing stairs and lifting a minimum of seventy (70) pounds continuously.
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate material handling equipment.
  • Must be able to endure exposure to all types of weather.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Experience following basic work instructions.
