Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role will assist with the accounting duties associated with the general ledger month-end close including the preparation of assigned journal entries and account reconciliations. Assist with treasury function, daily cash reporting, monthly P&L trend analysis, and external audit and tax working papers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists with the month-end close, including preparing journal entries and financial statement review.
  • Performs monthly analysis on various revenue and expense accounts and research variances.
  • Completes monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, including fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, and P&L trend analysis.
  • Prepare royalty calculations.
  • Prepare commission calculations.
  • Assist with sales/use tax filings using Avalara and other financial regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for property tax filings.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end audit and tax working papers.
  • Perform daily cash report and reconcile bank accounts monthly, verify deposits, and address bank inquiries.
  • Provides back-up for specific tasks performed by the Accounting Manager and other team members.
  • Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned or requested.
  • Streamline accounting processes to improve efficiency.

POSITION SPECIFICS:

  • This is a full-time position.
  • Typical work hours and days are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • This position is based out of the Fountain Valley, CA office.
  • No travel is expected for this position.
  • This position requires in-office attendance 4 days per week (subject to increase in the future).

PAY TRANSPARENCY:

  • The Company is committed to fair, equitable, and transparent compensation. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as your relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
  • The salary range for this role in Fountain Valley, CA is $70,000.00 - $80,000.00
  • In addition, you may be eligible for additional compensation, such as a bonus. Employees may also be eligible for a wide range of other benefits, including health & wellness benefits, retirement, time off, employee discounts, and others.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position does not have any leadership requirements and/or responsibilities.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION:

  • 5+ years of accounting experience. Consumer product or retail industry experience is preferred
  • Month-end close and reconciliation experience required
  • Experience with ERP systems; Great Plains (Microsoft Dynamics GP) preferred
  • Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with team members and across departments
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities for planning and executing both large and small projects and initiatives
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for coming up with ideas to routine or complex problems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications, such as Outlook, Word, and Teams
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, work effectively and meet deadlines
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Preferred major in Accounting, Finance or related business degree).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Candidate must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with ability to: be in a stationary position 50% of the time; occasionally move about inside the office to access fine cabinets, office machinery (such as a calculator, copy machine, printer, etc.); constantly operate a computer; occasionally ascend/descend stairs; constantly position self to maintain files in file cabinets; the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations; the ability to observe details at close range (within a few feed of the observer); and frequently move boxes weighing up to  50 pounds across office for various needs. Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions if projects/opportunities arise. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
