JOB DESCRIPTION

The R&D Powder Quality Sr. Project Manager position plays a crucial role in cultivating a customer centric, high-performance culture built on mutual trust and integrity through partnership and collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Global Supply Chain and other groups to support and secure new and existing business. The ideal candidate thrives in building cross-functional partnerships in a matrix environment while driving strategic initiatives supporting growth, efficiency, cost savings and innovation. This Sr. Project Manager should have strong knowledge and experience with powder-based coatings manufacture, product stewardship and regulatory requirements as well as global functional powder customer markets.


RESPONSIBILITIES

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works collaboratively with R&D, Sales and Marketing to support and secure new business as well as maintain current customer base.
  • Shepherds the development of key investment opportunities that drive significant strategic growth
  • Designs and executes experiments, draws conclusions and makes recommendations
  • Provides written updates and presents technical materials.
  • Maintains interactions with vendors, customers and various internal stakeholder groups to ensure successful R&D efforts on new/ improved products
  • Functions with limited supervisory input
  • Leads multiple technically complex projects simultaneously
  • Leads multiple large projects with a strong focus on management of change
  • Leads projects with cross functional/ global teams and communicates to stakeholders on project plans, updates and timelines
  • Is a recognized Subject Matter Expert
  • Communicates detailed ideas concisely through written communications
  • Communicates barriers/ concerns potentially impactful to project quality/ timelines and proposes resolutions
  • Displays knowledge of and complies with all safety and security regulations
  • Travels for technical conferences and product commercialization support
  • Provides external customer service
  • Trains/ mentors others
  • Provides laboratory project support utilizing project management and time management skills
  • Adheres to quality standards in accordance with the Global Business Management System
  • Fulfills other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
  • Project Management certification (or obtain within one year of accepting role)
  • Demonstrates strong strategic perspective and ability to deal with complex requirements while setting priorities
  • 10 years of coatings specific industry experience
  • Demonstrated strong market knowledge, customer experience and relationships with Sales and Marketing groups
  • Experience with solvent-borne, water-borne epoxy and urethane chemistries and/ or powder coating chemistries
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Familiarity with application and troubleshooting of industrial coatings
  • Practical understanding of spectral measurement data
  • Computer knowledge for basic inputting, communication and data analysis
  • Excellent math skills
  • Understanding of when/ how to employ analytical chemistry techniques
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • Ability to adapt and change quickly in response to new situations/ demands
  • Familiar with Design of Experiments

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master of Business Administration
  • Green belt trained/certified
  • Experience with Powder Coatings including FBE and TGIC technologies

Travel Requirements: 30% Domestic & International
