Job Title: Project Manager

Internal Job Title: Client Engagement Manager (CEM)

Location: Preference for candidates located in the DMV region.

Workplace: Hybrid (must be able to attend occasional company and client meetings onsite in Northern Virginia)

Clearance Required: must have an active Secret clearance and must be able to achieve a TS/SCI clearance

Position Overview

As a Client Engagement Manager (CEM) for Elder Research's Defense Portfolio, you will have the opportunity to develop and utilize leadership skills, build strong relationships internally and externally, leverage your experience and passion for data science to drive both project delivery and business strategy as well as oversee the health and growth of your portfolio of clients.

You will drive technology and analytics delivery by:

  1. Guiding and deploying technical team members.
  2. Manage all facets of project execution and high-quality delivery – in scope, on time, within budget.
  3. Manage client relationships, expectations, and satisfaction.
  4. Oversee contractual, financial, and resourcing data and information for the client and Elder Research.
  5. Serve as a key support system for the internal project teams, fostering trusted communication and alignment across teams.

Major Duties/Tasks:

  • Mentoring and guiding Data Scientists and Software Developers.
  • Engaging with clients to understand and define needs.
  • Technical contributions as needed (code reviews, feature development, bug fixes, prototyping, overall engagement with the technical contributors on the team).
  • Project management and budgeting.
  • Employee performance.
  • Business Development and Growth Strategy.

Requirements

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, statistics, data science or field directly related to the position and 5+ years of experience, or a Masters Degree and 3+ years of experience.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Familiar with Agile and other project management frameworks.
  • Hands on experience with statistics, math, data science, machine learning, AI, or software development.
  • Experience leading teams and mentoring technical contributors.
  • Demonstrated commitment to team members' well-being and client delivery.
  • Experience developing data pipelines in Python, R, or SQL.
  • Experience with data science or analytics including statistics, machine learning, and/or AI.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of industry standard tools for data science such as Jupyter notebooks, Databricks, VS Code, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, tidyverse, GitLab, etc..
  • Project management experience in data science, statistics, and/or software development.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Comfort with web-app development tools such as Flask, HTML, JavaScript, and Streamlit.
  • A PMP certification.
  • Experience with Spark and/or Databricks.
  • Familiar with DoD datasets and processes.
  • Familiar with containerization such as Docker, and Kubernetes.
