An extended-release medication sounds like a simple innovation, but it has been lacking for more than 20 years prior to our May 1, 2023 approval, and we believe this can be transformative for people with narcolepsy. What We Do: FDA-approved LUMRYZ (sodium oxybate) is a central nervous system depressant indicated for the treatment of cataplexy or excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) in patients 7 years of age and older with narcolepsy. The FDA found LUMRYZ to be clinically superior to currently marketed twice-nightly oxybate products and granted LUMRYZ seven years of Orphan Drug Exclusivity for adults on May 1, 2023, and again for pediatric patients 7 years and older on October 16, 2024. In both instances, FDA found that LUMRYZ makes a major contribution to patient care over currently available, twice-nightly oxybate products by providing a once-nightly dosing regimen that avoids nocturnal awakening to take a second dose.

Position Summary:

If you are looking for an opportunity to develop a world class insight generation capability at a small, fast-paced, fun, high growth, emerging pharma company, then let’s talk. We are looking for someone with a passion for market research, who is equally comfortable “in the weeds” of data as putting together compelling stories to bring insights to life. S/he will help to shape and drive brand strategy, develop annual insight plans, and provide thought partnership to Commercial Leadership. S/he will be responsible for leading market research and insight generation in support of LUMRYZ, and will become the internal expert on, and voice of, our patients and providers. This role will play a critical role on Avadel’s Strategic Market Insight & Commercial Analytics (SMICA) team.

Essential Functions:

  • Market Research Expertise: Manage all aspects of primary market research, across US market, including project scoping, vendor selection, methodology selection, data collection, analysis and reporting/storytelling. This individual will be an expert in Insight Generation supporting US Brand and broader Commercial team.
  • Commercial Analytics and Brand Performance: Monitor regular brand performance and prepare monthly insights deliverable, performance updates, and ad hoc analyses based on synthesis / analysis of a variety of primary / secondary data sources (e.g., market research, prescribing data, competitive intelligence, field team feedback, customer feedback). Must have excellent knowledge of major US data sources, and ability to drive deep analytics on performance and market dynamics. Must have the ability to manage and prioritize ad-hoc requests with Commercial Leadership Team members
  • Competitive Intelligence: Support and manage monitoring of in-line and pipeline competitors, conducting on-going competitive analyses, threat monitoring, competitive response management, and scenario planning.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Life Sciences Consulting (with some execution of market research) or Life Sciences Market Research/Analytics vendor background strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced educational achievement or MBA preferred

  • Strong Project / Deliverable Management – ability to deliver complex analytical investigations and cross-functional projects with limited guidance; ability to scope, enhance the output/hypotheses and deliver analytical investigations and projects with limited oversight; seeks to understand the problem/issue, conducts cross-functional interviews, and drives towards a well-structured deliverable
  • Market Research Depth: Significant knowledge of market research tools and methodologies and demonstrated experience of identifying and addressing commercial insight gaps.
  • High Customer-Orientation – internal customers as a service partner to marketing + other functions
  • Strong Communications and Storytelling – both efficient and succinct in verbal and written communications/deliverables; able to distill complex analyses into meaningful insights and conclusions for executive audiences
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Project Management – able to collaborate effectively with various functional partners to probe/ask questions, gather required information for analysis and participate as a value-added cross-functional partner
  • Dealing Well with Ambiguity / Intensity – operates well in a fast-paced environment driven by senior leadership requests and evolving needs
  • Independence – able to manage workload with limited guidance and support in prioritization; effective managing to expectations and ability to scope/prioritize work with relatively high independence
