Position Summary:

Midnight Sun is looking to hire a Reasonable Accommodation Coordinator to support a federal contract with the Indian Health Services (IHS), under the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This is a remote position.


Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth research to resolve complex issues, identifying and citing authoritative legal sources from Section 6 to deliver well-supported, defensible solutions.
  • Draft high-quality reasonable accommodation documents using established DMEEO templates, while developing expert-level proficiency in tailoring language to diverse and evolving case needs.
  • Gain a working knowledge of federal agency structures to effectively identify source documents and recommend informed, actionable resolutions.
  • Apply expert-level analytical skills to assess reasonable accommodation claims, evaluating whether legal criteria are met and identifying appropriate remedies based on applicable law.
  • Engage professionally with individuals across all levels of a federal agency, as well as external representatives and legal counsel, demonstrating tact and clarity in sensitive conversations.
  • Communicate empathetically and effectively with individuals who may be distressed or assertive, maintaining professionalism while addressing their reasonable accommodation concerns.
  • Collaborate in a team environment, welcoming constructive feedback and incorporating it into deliverables to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Maintain a deep commitment to confidentiality, consistently upholding the highest standards of discretion and ethical responsibility in all casework.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience in Human Resources, EEO, disability accommodation, compliance, or a related legal or compliance environment.
  • Prior experience providing training and/or continuing education.
  • Strong ability to translate complex legal or technical language into clear, accessible communication for diverse, non-specialist audiences.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate between different levels of individuals throughout a federal Agency, outside the Agency, and with attorneys or other representatives.
  • Ability to draft Reasonable Accommodation and related documents, following or adapting to established DMEEO formats.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and research issues, identify relevant legal authorities and provide defendable solution(s) citing relevant authorities.
  • Familiarity with the organizational structure of federal agencies to effectively source documentation and recommend case resolutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to receive, integrate, and apply feedback constructively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Ability to speak with individuals who may be upset or demanding while maintaining professionalism, empathy, and composure.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to strict confidentiality standards with a high degree of discretion and integrity.

Certifications, Licenses, and Other

  • Must be able to obtain/maintain site access and security requirements.
  • SHRM, HRCI, or other related certification(s) considered an asset.
