We are seeking a motivated and experienced Logistics Manager to lead our trucking and logistics operations. This role is critical in ensuring our trucking and equipment logistics run safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, operational expertise, and a commitment to Duininck’s core values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee licensed vehicle logistics and material transportation across all jobsites.
- Manage truck assignments, scheduling, and procurement in collaboration with the Equipment Division.
- Coordinate permitting and licensing (e.g., IFTA, cab cards, tabs, MCS-150, UCR) with the Dispatch team.
- Monitor fleet performance, including idle time, and utilization to maximize haul efficiency.
- Maintain compliance with DOT, IFTA, and internal recordkeeping standards.
- Lead dispatch operations to ensure efficient scheduling, permit accuracy, and truck/jobsite alignment.
- Manage e-ticketing software (FleetWatcher) to support equipment movement and job site logistics.
- Coordinate with the Equipment Division to ensure daily Operator Care practices are followed.
- Deliver and oversee training programs: CDL onboarding, defensive driving, DOT compliance, DriveCam coaching, and dispatcher development.
- Develop and manage the annual fleet budget and key performance goals.
- Lead performance management and employee development for drivers and dispatchers on the Logistics team in partnership with the Assistant Logistics Manager.
- Establish departmental policies and ensure alignment with Duininck’s values and safety standards.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proven experience in fleet, transportation, or logistics management, with a strong understanding of DOT regulations and transportation compliance.
- Experience with dispatching systems and e-ticketing software (e.g., FleetWatcher), is a plus.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to analyze data and drive efficiencies across transportation operations.
- Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams including HR, Safety, Equipment, and Planning.
- Proven people leadership skills including ability to coach and develop, communicate effectively across all levels, and lead change.
- Ability to develop and implement department objectives and drive results in alignment with the company values.
- Available to travel through Southwest Minnesota, Eastern Dakotas and Northern Iowa and work extended hours during the construction season.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, and work at heights or in confined spaces.
- Lift and move heavy equipment or materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Work in dusty, loud, or hot environments typical of asphalt, aggregate and concrete production facilities
This year-round, full-time position comes with a strong benefits package including:
