Position Title: Security Administrator
Location: Cape Canaveral, Florida
Position Summary:
The Security Administrator supports day-to-day security operations at a U.S. Government-owned laboratory on Cape Canaveral. This role ensures smooth execution of facility access procedures, physical security protocols, and compliance tasks in coordination with the government's security office. The Security Administrator serves as the on-site point of contact for all security-related activities, ensuring a secure and mission-ready environment for all personnel and operations at the facility.
This position is part of a government-funded project, and employment is contingent upon continued customer funding and performance.

Primary Responsibilities
Access Control & Visitor Coordination
- Manage visitor, contractor, and vendor check-in procedures while maintaining a professional and secure environment.
- Verify, issue and track security credentials; ensure access aligns with individual authorization levels.
- Submit and monitor facility and network access requests using approved government systems.
- Escort uncleared personnel through secure areas, as required by protocol.
Facility Operations & Physical Security
- Support secure facility operations, including opening and closing procedures, as well as alarm system management.
- Assist with scheduled tests of alarm and security equipment to ensure ongoing operational readiness.
- Conduct daily security checks and walkthroughs to confirm proper safeguarding of sensitive materials.
- Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked common areas to support a professional work environment.
- Support facility staff in coordinating maintenance for sensitive or technical equipment.
Sensitive Material Handling
- Assist with tracking, control, and accountability of sensitive materials in accordance with government policy.
- Support periodic inventories and ensure proper secure storage and handling practices are followed.
Personnel Security Support & Compliance
- Coordinate with the government's security office on personnel clearance matters and access authorization updates.
- Assist with preparation for audits, compliance reviews, and internal self-inspections.
- Contribute to risk mitigation efforts by supporting routine security evaluations and implementation of corrective actions.
Qualifications
Required:
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (may include a Counterintelligence (CI) polygraph depending on contractual requirements).
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience supporting security operations in a government, defense, or regulated environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work professionally with government personnel and contractor teams.
- Proficiency with security-related systems and tools used for personnel and document control.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to execute multiple security-related tasks.
Preferred:
- Active or current U.S Government security clearance.
- Experience supporting DoD or other secure government facilities.
Additional Information:
- Worksite: On-site at a secure government facility on Cape Canaveral, Florida.
- Salary range: Starting at $70,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- Travel: Occasional travel may be required for sponsor meetings, coordination, and site visits.
