SA-TECH provides the U. S. Army, other U.S. agencies and allied nations with Aerial Target Flight Services (ATFS), operating and maintaining aerial target flight operations for any directed mission and aerial target flight operations and maintenance services at Fort Bliss, TX; White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), NM; and other Posts, Camps, and Stations (PCS) in the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside CONUS (OCONUS).


We are currently seeking to hire an Engineering Technologist at WSMR based out of our facilities in Orogrande, NM.


An Engineering Technologist applies advanced technical knowledge to solve problems by interpreting Technical Manuals, engineering data, technical data, troubleshooting, replacing components, interpreting and up-dating service bulletins, interpreting and developing EMIs (to include check-out and repair of operational equipment). Assignments typically require creativity and judgment to devise approaches to accomplish work, resolve design and operational problems, and make sound recommendations to correct or improve O&M.

As an Engineering Technologist, you will:

  • Prepare specifications for various non-routine and complex equipment or systems and plans approach to solve design problems.
  • Conceive and recommend new design techniques, resolves design problems. Examples of such design conceptions include: electrical drawings, detailed circuit diagrams, hardware fittings or test equipment involving clarity of mechanisms. This work requires good knowledge of the interrelationships of Targets, Launch Equipment and Control Systems, to include utilization of CAD programs in support of Mission Requirements.
  • Perform such tasks as electronic design, wiring circuits, installing required modifications, repairing electronic equipment, interpreting electronic schematics, soldering, isolating malfunctions, incorporating engineering improvements and use electronic test equipment such as digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequencies counters, power meters and other target-specific test equipment.
  • Provide semi-professional technical support working in such areas as research, design, development, and testing.
  • Maintain, repair, troubleshoot, check-out, and modify various types of Aerial Targets, Control Systems and electronic equipment.

An Engineering Technologist applies strong technical knowledge of electronic principles in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluating performance and reliability.


This position provides leadership, technical guidance and training to electronic technicians to ensure the continuity of valuable experience is maintained and as an Engineering Technologist, you must understand the overall concept of the Aerial Target Mission. Your work may be reviewed by a supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices and must adhere to all policies and safety and security regulations. Additional duties such as housekeeping, administrative functions and maintaining Company and Government facilities and equipment will also be required.


Primary functions for this position include (but are not limited to):

  • Plans or assists in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance.
  • Determines test requirements, equipment modification and test procedures
  • Conducts tests using various instruments, and is able to analyze and evaluate test results and prepare reports on findings and recommendations.
  • Maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, inspects, and modifies various types of Aerial Targets, Control Systems and electronic equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Conditions:

  • Conditions will vary but most work will be accomplished in enclosed buildings.
  • There will be work on the range throughout the year so temperatures will vary over the course of the year and could include inclement weather.
  • Work includes cross-utilization into other positions that fall within our scope of work.
  • The position will require overtime and weekend work.
  • The employee must be capable of lifting 50-100 pounds assisted by other employees.
  • Duties will include 45% standing, 25% walking, 20% sitting, 5% reaching, and 5% lifting.
Requirements:

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Two-year degree in the Electronics field or equivalent or High School diploma + four (4) years of Avionics/Electronics experience.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Computer/Networking/MS Office skills.
  • A basic electronics background is required, with an intermediate to advanced level preferred.
  • Must be capable of lifting 50-100 pounds assisted by other employees.
  • Current NM or TX Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to starting and maintain that Clearance throughout your employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
