Position Summary 

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Director of Engineering to lead our Amplifiers & Modems Segment engineering teams in designing, developing, and deploying cutting-edge satellite telecommunications solutions. This role requires a visionary leader with deep technical expertise in satellite communications, RF systems, network infrastructure, and software-defined networking. Reporting directly to the Vice President General Manager of Amplifiers & Modems, they will drive innovation, optimize performance, and ensure the successful execution of mission-critical projects.

Responsibilities: 

  • Define and execute the engineering strategy aligned with business goals across the Amplifiers & Modems business. 
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the engineering department.
  • Coordinate with product development, program management, operations, sales, and marketing teams to execute the business strategy.
  • Oversee large multi-disciplinary projects, including software, hardware, FPGA, and RF.
  • Collaborate with senior engineering management to define processes and group goals.
  • Drive the design, development, and release of digital, RF, and software engineering projects.
  • Ensure efficient product development processes and adherence to quality standards.
  • Manage resources effectively to meet project timelines and budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure operational effectiveness, review results, and allocate resources effectively.
  • Foster organizational communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
  • Manage team performance and development, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure safety and regulatory compliance
  • Support sales and marketing with  customer relations by providing technical advice.
  • Support capture efforts with proposals, white papers and reviewing cost estimates.
  • Travel as required for business needs and represent the company in external engagements.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, software, or systems engineering or related disciplines. Master's degree in business or technical discipline preferred.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of leadership experience, including team management and strategic planning.
  • Fifteen or more years of professional work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in SATCOM communication system design, hardware and/or software engineering, or RF engineering.
  • Experience in product engineering, design for manufacturing, and embedded systems.
  • Highly knowledgeable in Satellite Communications or Telecommunications industries.
  • Intimate knowledge of the culture of the US Department of Defense is preferred.
  • Understanding of tactical communications and the military's requirements process.
  • Active Top Secret clearance or held within the last 2 years.

Problem-solving and Communication:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to create processes in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including customer interactions and technical sections in Government RFPs.
