846-383

This position requires senior-level knowledge of hypersonic system modeling and simulation applications. The ideal candidate will have direct experience in the processing, exploitation, and dissemination of M&S related data, as well as a working familiarity with the broader hypersonic M&S analysis and research community, including its organizations, mission requirements, and operational workflows.

The candidate must possess strong knowledge of OPIR data systems, aerospace engineering M&S tools and analytic methods, and processing methodologies, along with a high-level understanding of system architectures and analytic toolchains.

In this role, you will serve as a lead technical advisor supporting the design, development, and fielding of M&S-focused software capabilities. You will review technical deliverables and ensure that proposed architectures and solutions meet the operational demands of OPIR sensing, data processing, analysis, and visualization.

This role is critical to ensuring that modeling and simulation capabilities are delivered in a manner that is technically sound, operationally relevant, and aligned with the evolving needs of national security missions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide senior level expertise to guide the architecture, design, and implementation of hypersonic vehicle focused M&S-relevant software systems and applications.
  • Assess system design documents, user interface prototypes, and software artifacts to ensure suitability for multiple M&S missions.
  • Participate in sprint reviews, technical interchange meetings (TIMs), and formal design reviews with a focus on software system integration and analytic effectiveness.
  • Support government stakeholders by validating contractor performance against hypersonic M&S-specific technical and operational objectives.
  • Ensure that software capabilities align with current and emerging requirements from the M&S mission and analytic communities.

Years of Experience/Degree Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred and PhD Desired)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Modeling and Simulation data systems, processing pipelines, and exploitation workflows
  • Senior level expertise and at least 5 years of experience advising or leading Python based M&S utility development and web application development using React, TypeScript, NodeJS, and related technologies with strong foundation in containerized deployment (Docker, Podman) and secure DevSecOps practices
  • 10–15 years of experience in software/system engineering with direct involvement in DoD or IC mission systems
  • Experience with Docker, AWS, ML / Python, expert missile architecture.
  • TS/SCI with ability to obtain CI Poly

Desired Experience:

  • Experience with the DoD-HPCMP’s Computational Research and Engineering Acquisition Tools and Environments-Air Vehicles (CREATE-AV) program
  • Experience using DoD High Performance Computing (HPC) Systems and the DoD HPC Modernization Program (DoD-HPCMP)
  • Experience with Government owned (GOTS) Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software tools and design programs, e.g.:
    • CREATE-AV’s Aircraft Design, Analysis, Performance, and Trade-Space (ADAPT)
    • NASA’s Cart3D
    • CREATE-AV’s Kestrel
    • NASA’s CBAERO
    • NASA’s FUN3D
  • Experience working with DoD, IC, and DoE research, analysis, and intelligence centers (e.g. AFRL, NASIC, NRL, NAWC, NSWC)
  • Experience with container development (e.g. Docker, Podman), Kubernetes, Argo workflows, devops, and cloud engineering
  • Experience with version control software (i.e. GitLab), CI/CD, and python software development
  • Experience with radiometry, aircraft flight dynamics, hypersonic flight regime
  • Experience using both Linux/UNIX and Windows operating systems
  • Experience with National Technical Means (NTM) systems
  • Ramjet/Scramjet and propulsion modeling and simulation tools
