What does a Home Equity Specialist do? 

A Home Equity Specialist is responsible for providing a broad range of services to customers of our Community Offices; achieving service goals as established in Bank’s annual operating plan; complying with operating policies and procedures established for the Consumer Lending function; communicating with appropriate personnel; responding to inquiries or requests for information; and maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports, as required.

What competencies are needed to be successful in this role?

  • An associate degree or equivalent preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in banking and/or real estate lending/ law firm real estate processing normally required.
  • Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail. 
  • A working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures. 

What does a successful first year in this position look like? 

Provides a broad range of consumer lending services to customers of our Community Offices as follows:

  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank consumer products and services to ascertain customer needs and to provide excellent customer service.  
  • Handles communications from customers, law firms, other lenders, and community office staff regarding loan status, approvals, payoffs, etc.
    • Assists customers in obtaining specialized services from other bank departments as necessary; provides help to customers with specific inquiries or service problems.
    • Inputs data loan origination and host systems.
    • Prepares necessary mortgage compliance documents (disclosures, etc.)
    • Reviews new application packages for accuracy, completeness, and prepares them for underwriting.
    • Prepares commitment letters.
    • Prepares closing packages with all applicable loan and legal documents.
    • Generates flood certifications, regulatory disclosures, etc. from web sites. 
    • Orders appraisals, flood certifications, title reports, etc.
    • Works with underwriters to ensure clear title and all conditions of commitment satisfied prior to closings, e.g., taxes, judgments, liens, etc.

Compensation range- $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
The actual salary offered within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skills, level offered, and performance expectations.
