Function of Position:

To support chemistry staff in day-to-day operation, while gaining hands on training to support their academic goals. Students will gain hands-on experience working in a lab setting. They will learn basic laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and glassware in the chemistry lab, and employ critical thinking skills to interpret and solve chemical problems.

This is a Federal Work Study position. Eligible applicants MUST have received prior approval from the Financial Aid Office. If you are unsure of your eligibility, please contact Financial Aid before applying.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

• Maintenance of general condition of the laboratory, prep room, and stock room areas.
• Setting up and switching out weekly experiments.
• Calibration and maintenance of equipment.

Required Qualifications:

• Applicants must be Federal Work Study eligible (you can confirm your eligibility with a Financial Aid representative)

• Current or past enrollment of a chemistry course.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Availability on Fridays
• Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

Pay Rate: $15.50/hour
Hours per week: Up to 20 hours/week
