Position Summary:

The Audiovisual (AV) Techncian - IV (Foreman) is a senior-level role responsible for overseeing the execution of audiovisual (AV) and IT installations on job sites. This position requires extensive experience in the AV/IT and construction trades, as well as proven leadership capabilities.  The Foreman is accountable for managing on-site crews, ensuring that all tasks are completed in alignment with the project plan, safety standards, and quality expectations. This includes coordinating job site logistics, enforcing safety protocols, and maintaining the highest level of workmanship throughout the duration of the project. The successful candidate must be able to perform their duties independently, with minimal supervision, while effectively directing and supporting team members in a dynamic and deadline-driven environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience leading AV/IT system installations in the field.
  • Must hold a valid state installation license and/or certificate, as required by applicable state laws.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an AVIXA CTS-I certification or successfully complete a State Certified Apprenticeship program within one year of hire.
  • Certification for the use of powder actuated tools is required.
  • Advanced proficiency with AV/IT trade tools, demonstrating a strong understanding of proper use and safety practices.
  • Extensive experience operating construction equipment such as scaffolding, lifts, hoists, and pulleys.
  • Proficient in basic computer operations, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated expertise in setting up and installing audio and video systems with a high degree of quality and precision.
  • Proven success installing a wide range of AV equipment, including speaker systems, flat panel displays, projectors, and projection screens.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively coordinate and guide field installation crews; capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team.


Responsibilities

  • Assign daily work priorities and ensure crew members have the necessary tools, training, and support to perform their tasks effectively.
  • Lead by example in promoting a positive work environment, maintaining crew morale, and enforcing safety protocols.
  • Perform hands-on installation work, including equipment mounting, cable management, terminations, and system configuration, as needed.
  • Provide on-the-job training for installation techniques such as mechanical assembly, cable pulling, wire dressing, and basic AV equipment setup.
  • Train apprentices and new team members on company procedures, installation standards, and system-specific best practices.
  • Offer technical support and guidance to less experienced installers to ensure work is completed to quality and safety standards.
  • Communicate applicable state and local low-voltage code requirements to assigned installers.
  • Ensure all work meets company quality standards and is completed within allocated labor hours.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the installation crew and the project management team.
  • Communicate daily job progress, challenges, and changes in scope or schedule to the Project Manager.
  • Maintain and update as-built drawings to reflect installation changes and ensure documentation accuracy.
  • Safeguard all AV equipment and materials—whether company-provided or client-owned—throughout the installation process.
  • Protect existing building finishes and installations from dust, debris, and damage caused during project execution.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment on-site at all times.
  • Collect and turn over all equipment manuals and unused materials to the Project Manager at project completion.
  • Conduct safety meetings as assigned and attend construction coordination meetings as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to confirm physical completeness in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and milestones.
