ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Drafter/CAD Operator II performs drafting work manually or using a computer, requiring knowledge and skill in drafting methods, procedures and techniques, prepares drawings of structures, facilities, land profiles, mechanical and/or electrical systems, building layouts, area layouts, and other required drawings need to communicate engineering ideas, designs and information. This operator uses recognized systems of symbols, legends, and lines having specific meanings in drawings. This operator will be required to prepare various drawings using AutoCAD drawing package to show building and/or site layouts, electrical schematics, and mechanical layouts used to construct various test equipment.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Work requires a general knowledge of electrical and mechanical nomenclature, CAD techniques, and conventional drafting practices.
  • Must have a good understanding of scaling and mathematical computations.
  • Simple revisions of drawings may be assigned with verbal instructions on what needs to be done.
  • Complex revisions may be assigned using sketches, markups or specifications that clearly depict the desired product.
  • Must be able to prepare notes such as descriptions for revisions, using standard abbreviations and engineering terms.


Job Requirements:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be a graduate of an accredited technical or service school with basic understanding of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and basic drafting principles. Must possess the basic knowledge to prepare drawings that include various views, sectional profiles, detail drawings, and assembly/subassembly drawings from sketches, marked up prints, layouts and models. Must have knowledge in the use of both AutoCAD and Adobe Acrobat. Must have the ability to make arithmetical computations using standard formulas for such things as dimensions, scale and area.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Support E-OMS operational objectives; observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is normally accomplished indoors but occasionally work assignments may require outdoor activity under extreme environmental conditions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Will be subject to substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to have close visual acuity to perform and activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal. May be required to lift, pull, or carry items of weight and size.
