The Opportunity

If you are reading this, we could guess two things about you: You are highly analytical and skilled at solving complex problems and you love working with people. As our Mechanical Engineer, you will provide to the design of A&B products including ASME section VIII calculations for pressure vessels, non-ASME vessel design, agitator design, structural calculations for platforms and other attachments, product development and overseeing the preparation of fabrication drawings, specifications, and bills of materials through Mechanical Design. 



Qualifications

On a given day, you might find yourself:

  • Engineer, analyze and design with supporting calculations; pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks and components in accordance to customer specifications, ASME, API and other related codes and sound engineering practices.
  • Acts as liaison with outside A&E firms to obtain local seismic information and requirements for other federal, state and local code compliance.
  • Act as internal technical expert for compliance to ASME Section VIII Div. 1 in the equipment design and manufacturing process.
  • Oversee preparation of detailed customer/fabrication drawings to ensure adherence to: applicable code and customer specifications, accommodation of plant fabrication techniques, minimized cost and maximized quality, meet budget and delivery schedules.
  • Manage subcontracts for: PE review/stamp, CRN and PED certifications.
  • Manage customer relationships through resolving technical issues on occasion.

The Challenge

To thrive, you should:

  • The candidate must have knowledge of AutoCAD software for the completion of required drawings.  
  • A thorough understanding and ability to use all Microsoft software and Compress Design Software applications. . 
  • Candidates who have an in depth knowledge of ASME Sec. VIII Div.1 and API 650 Codes; experience with Compress Design Software, TEMA, Canadian (CRN), CE/PED (European pressure directive) and FEA; and Compress software.

  • Has the ability to work with little direction and leads the project team to a successful completion of multiple projects.

 

Education & Travel

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited college in mechanical engineering, structural engineering or similar degree is required.  A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an analytical engineering role within the tank and vessel manufacturing industry is desirable.  Professional Engineering certification is a plus. May consider candidates with ten + years equivalent experience in industry in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
