Paralegal – Labor & Employment

Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is a national law firm with a proven reputation for providing progressive, industry-leading legal, business, regulatory and government relations advice to our regional, national and international clients.

We are searching for a Labor & Employment Paralegal in our Philadelphia office to provide a full range of support for our labor and employment practice group.

Specific Responsibilities of the Position include:

  • Prepare and maintain relevant case related materials for assigned matters.
  • Create, maintain, and update paper and electronic case files.
  • Calculate, docket, calendar and communicate court and internal deadlines.
  • Schedule court reporters and videographers, including tracking of protective order certifications, confidentiality designations and errata sheets.
  • Conduct legal and factual research on individuals, corporations and opposing counsel.
  • Prepare exhibits and other documents for use at depositions, hearings and trials.
  • Prepare form submissions, such as notice of appearance, waiver of service, motion for admission pro hac vice, etc.
  • Prepare first drafts of simple form documents like ADR Stipulations, Rule 26(f) reports, corporate disclosures, initial disclosures, etc.
  • Prepare subpoenas and coordinate payment of witness fees and service.
  • Prepare drafts, proofread documents, and create PowerPoint and other presentation materials.
  • Other duties as assigned.

      Skills and Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal Certificate required.
      • 3-5+ years’ experience as a paralegal or legal assistant with billable deliveries.
      • Experience with employment litigation and with FDCPA.
      • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
      • Experience with litigation support software – Relativity Ringtail, Summation, Concordance, Case Map, Text Map, Time Map, Trial Director, iCompli, etc.
      • Complete working knowledge of federal, state, and local court and administrative agency rules.
      • Strong attention to detail and excellent written and oral communication skills.
