REPORTS TO: MCL Section Manager

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Supervision of 2 shops of up to 13 people at the Mckinley Climatic Lab (Fabrication and Test Assembly). Shops consist of field engineers, fabricators, and test assemblers in the development, fabrication, set-up/installation, and support of climatic testing of various military and commercial aircraft, weapon systems, and support equipment. Responsible for planning and scheduling of work and resources, ensuring effective tracking of tests and timely delivery of fabricated materials. Coordinates directives with other sections within the contract and with government representatives. Responsible for ensuring that employees are trained and qualified to safely perform the fabrication and testing work. Supervises the Fabrication and Test Assembly shops at McKinley Climatic Laboratory consisting of Test Assemblers and Fabricators. This position reports to the McKinley Climatic Laboratory Section Manager.

GENERAL DUTIES:

• Manages and tracks labor, materials, and completion dates on multiple directives through PIMS.
• Ensures safety and occupational health standards are met in the work environment.
• Coordinates training for individuals assigned to ensure cross-utilization goals are met.
• Ensures compliance with government regulations and company regulations.
• Has overall responsibility for the safe operation of test assembly and execution, fabrication, and welding of test support equipment.
• Required to exercise independent judgment and is responsible for the coordination and safety of assigned personnel in the shops.

Job Requirements:

OTHER DUTIES: Responsible for all aspects of shop control and safety. Additional duties may be assigned to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Essential job functions require practical application of knowledge of the details of the fabrication and test assembly process. Required to manage all directives, estimate and prioritize work and exercises independent judgment in resolving problems that arise. Responsible for assuring safe operations and communicating with personnel assigned, customers, government representatives, and leadership.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Secret security clearance. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work activities are normally performed in an environmentally controlled area.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position will be subject to substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal. May require sitting for long periods of time. Some lifting of up to 50 pounds, standing, bending, stooping and climbing may be required.
