Standard BioTools is looking for a VP, Information Technology to join the team. The individual will be responsible for leading the technology applications, infrastructure, and global helpdesk teams. The VP, IT will oversee the design, development, and management of the technological applications and infrastructure and will lead the evolution of the technology environment in response to growth and changing business needs. The VP will provide subject matter expertise to the executive leadership team.

  • Lead the efforts of the business to effectively utilize technology to meet its needs and goals.
  • Recognize and advance strategic opportunities for the utilization of the organization’s information technology investments.
  • Develop and maintain a strategy for all applications and infrastructure, ensuring relevant systems are optimized and achieve organizational requirements.
  • Direct the information and data integrity of the organization and for all information technology functions.
  • Provide oversight and leadership to ensure ERP applications, database management systems and departmental application systems are optimized.
  • Lead IT related initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness of business processes in accordance with Company priorities
  • Lead IT related vendor management and contract negotiation.
  • Build relationships with business areas to provide organization-wide services, user support, and training to improve alignment and communication.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Applications team, IT Operations, IT Security & System Administration teams, and relevant project teams.
  • Establish standard of work and consistent process for initiating new IT related projects that impact the organization.
  • Support the Global Helpdesk team, and act as escalation point to resolve urgent or complex issues.
  • Track, analyze and monitor technology performance metrics
  • Hire, motivate, and develop team members to enable their careers with Standard BioTools. Build a high performing team.
  • Participate in the development of the annual IT budgets for IT purchasing, staffing and technology operations.

Cybersecurity

  • Responsible for the protection of corporate and customer data ensuring business continuity.
  • Navigate complex structures concerning risk, compliance, corporate policy and procedures, internal controls, legal and regulatory mandates, and contractual obligations.
  • Lead the information security and risk functions, including cybersecurity threats and solutions.
  • Solve complex cyber challenges by leveraging internal and external cyber expertise.
  • Stay abreast of cutting-edge issues, including challenges and threats, information security and risk mitigation.

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • 15+ years of experience in technology company or similar industry
  • Demonstrated ability to think and act with strategic and tactical agility
  • Strong interpersonal skills and business acumen
  • Exceptional leadership and innovation skills
  • Knowledge of latest cyber security threats and cyber security procedures
  • Ability to impact and influence others while holding people accountable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Results oriented, problem solver, with the ability to manage and provide advice regarding complex issues

  • Ability to work and manage in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Ability to communicate advanced technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft and ERP system (AX Dynamics), and infrastructure
  • Strong proficiency in desktop tools (Microsoft Office, Excel, Access)
