The Department of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine invites applications for a one-year Postdoctoral Associate position in basic and translational research. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research team focused on the prevention of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm, a precursor to pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. The postdoctoral associate will conduct experiments using a transgenic mouse model to test hypotheses related to this innovative approach.
The postdoctoral associate will be responsible for designing and executing experiments using a transgenic mouse model to investigate the prevention of IPMN. They will collaborate closely with the principal investigator, lab members, and external collaborators to develop technical skills and enhance scientific reasoning and writing abilities. The role includes presenting research findings at local and national scientific meetings, contributing to the preparation of grant applications and peer-reviewed publications, and actively participating in lab meetings and training activities. The associate is also expected to engage in career development planning and comply with all university research conduct and training requirements.
Applicants should hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent degree in a relevant biomedical field, with a strong foundation in molecular biology, cancer biology, or related disciplines. Prior experience working with animal models, particularly in translational or cancer research, is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills, a strong analytical mindset, and a commitment to collaborative research. A proactive approach to learning and professional development is essential for success in this role.
