Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic is seeking an HIM Director to lead our HIM team!

The Director of Health Information Management (HIM) is responsible for providing strategic leadership and guidance to supervisors and staff, promoting a culture of innovation and excellence in the provision of services under their scope of responsibility. The Director of HIM supports the organization's vision and goals and is responsible for achieving departmental objectives. Problems encountered in this position are of a high degree of complexity and difficulty, requiring exceptional analytical skills, innovation, and creativity to formulate and implement mechanisms that identify and solve problems. The position serves as an advocate for the privacy and confidentiality of health information, ensuring compliance with related regulations and standards set by State, Federal, and accrediting agencies.

Position Highlights:

What You’ll Do:

  • Plan, coordinate, and direct Document Imaging and Release of Information operations

  • Ensure compliance with HIM policies, procedures, regulations, and standards

  • Educate and train staff on document imaging applications and processes

  • Oversee chart destruction at offsite storage facilities

  • Coordinate document imaging projects

  • Review Joint Commission Standards in partnership with IT, Quality, HIM, and ROI Supervisors

  • Maintain effective ROI revenue tracking processes

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and liaison for Health Information Management

  • Manage Quality Assurance/Audit program for document imaging and release of information

  • Partner with the Quality Department and HIPAA privacy officer to ensure adherence to HIPAA policies

  • Monitor legislative and accreditation changes affecting HIM and implement necessary changes

  • Coach, mentor, and train staff, providing continuous performance management and evaluations

  • Participate in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of staff

  • Create an inclusive work environment that promotes diversity and employee engagement

  • Monitor HIM/ROI operations performance using dashboards and productivity standards

  • Represent HIM in collaboration with Epic Analysts, ARCR, and CAB, developing and optimizing workflows

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management, Business, or Healthcare Administration + 3 years of progressively responsible experience managing Department Operations and supervising staff OR

  • Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management + 5 years of progressively responsible experience managing Department Operations and supervising staff

  • 3+ years of HIM experience in a facility with a fully implemented Employee Health Record (EHR), preferably Epic is preferred. Experience with On Base is a plus

  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator preferred. Epic certification in HIM applications is a plus

  • Valid Driver’s License and proof of automobile liability insurance coverage
