POSITION

CUSTODIAN

JOB SUMMARY

The Custodian is a key member of the Facilities and Engineering Department, responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness across all buildings within the Spiritus Systems Campus. This role ensures that all employees work in a clean, pleasant environment by performing regular cleaning and maintenance tasks in public areas, restrooms, offices, and communal spaces.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support, report to, and be directed by the Facilities and Engineering Manager in their assigned duties.
  • Perform comprehensive cleaning of all buildings and grounds, including floors, ceilings, walls, windows, restrooms, break areas, and shared spaces, ensuring high standards of cleanliness are met daily.
  • Maintain interior and exterior walkways, remove trash and recycling, and ensure cleanliness and orderliness of all facility exteriors and entrances.
  • Set up, tear down, and move furniture or fixtures for meetings, special events, or layout changes as directed.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as painting, replacing bulbs, minor plumbing or electrical fixes, and routine upkeep of safety fixtures and equipment.
  • Conduct scheduled safety checks (monthly, semi-annual, and annual) on building systems and equipment. Assist with inclement weather response, including walkway treatment and snow/ice removal.
  • Monitor the condition of facilities and grounds, promptly report safety hazards or repair needs, and maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
  • Safely operate manual and powered tools and use cleaning supplies and chemicals in compliance with safety protocols and training.
  • Demonstrate pride in work by consistently upholding high standards of cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail throughout all custodial duties.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Facilities & Engineering team, support company-wide safety efforts, and show initiative in identifying and addressing facility needs proactively.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Full-time, on-site position.
  • May be required to work overtime and/or extended hours depending on business needs. 
  • Some outdoor work is required as part of maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the facilities.
  • Physical requirements may include sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, and kneeling for up to and including 8 hours.  
  • Vision to view printed and electronic text and graphics.
  • Ability to access information on computers, tablets, and electronics.
  • Ability to handle and manipulate items with hands and/or fingers up to and including 8 hours.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Utilize appropriate software to perform job duties, such as but not limited to ADP, Tikit, and/or Microsoft Office Suite systems to facilitate job duties.
  • Basic industrial cleaning and maintenance experience, such as minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC.
