A Postdoctoral Associate position in breast and ovarian cancer research is available in the laboratory of Dr. Curtis McCloskey at the University of Pittsburgh, within the Department of Computational and Systems Biology and UPMC Hillman Cancer Centre. The successful candidate will tackle barriers to effective personalized medicine by employing cutting-edge computational tools on clinically relevant high-throughput single-cell multi-omics and single-cell imaging datasets.

Our research:

The McCloskey lab focuses on integrating functional and computational techniques to drive progress in precision prevention and precision treatment for breast and ovarian cancers. We are building a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team with ample opportunities to learn new techniques, improve your grant writing skills, and build knowledge in translational research. We are a growing program with an organizing principle that thinking long and hard about an idea is just as important as data generation. We have multiple projects across the spectrum of cancer prevention and treatment, with a strong commitment to mentoring each individual to achieve their career goals

Candidate Qualifications:

Recently earned Ph.D in cancer biology, computational biology, genomics, cell biology, or related fields.

Existing knowledge of breast or ovarian cancer is an asset.

Proficiency in programming languages (R, Python, Linux)

Demonstrated experience in some of the following:

o Spatial OMICs (proteomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics)

o Single-cell RNA sequencing

o Flow cytometry

o Pathology

o Genomic engineering (CRISPR/base editing)

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
