Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
- Prepares, provides and communicates accurate and timely academic advising to undergraduate students in the Covey College of Allied Health Professions (CAHP), including but not limited to conducting individual advising sessions and developing individualized academic plans.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of CAHP curricula.
- Creates and maintains academic records for undergraduate students in CAHP.
- Advises and assists students with choosing major and change of major.
- Posts and updates academic records using Banner, Degree Works and Navigate South.
- Counsels and coaches students in identifying and overcoming academic challenges by aiding in establishing realistic and attainable academic goals.
- Reviews files of graduating seniors and prepares graduation check sheets.
- Advises students on departmental, college and University policies and procedures.
- Checks records of returning students and assists in processing transfer student records.
- Communicates and works with academic departments and various student support divisions to support students’ academic needs.
- Assists with bulletin revisions, preparation of graduation plans and related advising documents.
- Assists student with registration issues involving holds, overrides and related records issues.
- Recognizes individual student needs (to include, but not limited to identifying struggling or at-risk students) and makes appropriate referrals to other campus services and resources as needed.
- Interacts with prospective students and parents of prospective students via individualized meetings and various events to include (but not limited to) New and Transfer Student Orientation, USA Day and other recruiting events on and off campus that may require a small amount of travel and work outside of normal operating days and hours.
- Maintains accurate records of advising sessions in Navigate South.
- Utilizes University systems to include Degree Works, Navigate South and Banner and prepares reports from these systems as requested.
- Actively participates with the University’s advising community to include attendance/participation at conferences and monthly advisor meetings, activities, trainings, etc.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
- Related duties as required.
