SUMMARY

The Accounting Specialist supports accurate financial reporting by performing reconciliations, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining data integrity across the accounting cycle. This role balances transactional responsibilities with analytical tasks, supports compliance and internal controls, and collaborates cross-functionally to drive process improvements and special projects.

ESESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform accurate and timely general ledger reconciliations, and month-end close activities with minimal oversight.
  • Analyze data to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies, duplicate entries, or irregular transactions across payables, receivables, and general ledger.
  • Ensure integrity of financial data within ERP and reporting systems.
  • Develop, monitor, and enforce internal controls to ensure compliance, support performance of support staff, and maintain audit readiness.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., sales, operations, procurement) to trace, resolve, and prevent data inconsistencies.
  • Take full ownership of delegated tasks and integrate special projects including continuous improvement initiatives into the daily workload without compromising core responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate an ability to perform multi-state tax requirements (e.g., sales & use tax, 1099 reporting)
  • Clearly communicate disbursement updates, collection issues, and related customer and vendor information to relevant stakeholders.
  • Compiles and enters data for invoicing, including commission and sales tax information.
  • Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts.
  • Confers with customers/vendors by telephone concerning accounts open receivables, payables, and associated problems
  • Coordinates with internal and external resources to perform department responsibilities and achieve departmental goals.

SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Accountable for all concerns within their scope of work and has the absolute responsibility to rectify and communicate any issue to managers, supervisors, safety or environmental managers as appropriate.
  • Follow all safe work practices, watch out for fellow workers, and ensure the work area remains compliant regarding hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste and universal waste.
  • The following personal protection equipment is required and must be worn while working in the manufacturing facility, vendors or customers' facilities:
  1. Company approved safety glasses or goggles.
  2. Company approved steel or ESD toe shoes when working outside the safety aisles.
  3. Appropriate hand protection, clothing and ear protection in designated areas.
  4. Other safety equipment as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and a minimum of two years related experience may substitute experience in lieu of Degree.

LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY - Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE SKILLS - General computer skills, with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

EQUIPMENT - Ten key calculator, adding machine.
