Function of Position:

The Radiographic Laboratory Assistant provides essential support to the Radiologic Technology Program by assisting with routine tasks that maintain the functionality, safety, and organization of the radiographic lab environment. Under the supervision of program faculty and staff, the student employee performs basic equipment checks, helps manage instructional materials, and contributes to ongoing quality assurance efforts. This role offers practical experience relevant to clinical imaging while helping alleviate faculty workload, ultimately enhancing the educational environment for all students.

This is a Federal Work Study position. Eligible applicants MUST have received prior approval from the Financial Aid Office. If you are unsure of your eligibility, please contact Financial Aid before applying.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform and document simple quality assurance checks on radiographic equipment (e.g., wet processor, ROP imaging system, DR units).
  • Assist faculty and the Radiation Safety Officer with routine equipment maintenance and occasional advanced testing procedures.
  • Organize and maintain lab equipment to ensure accessibility and efficient use during instruction.
  • Categorize and file radiographic images by anatomical region and/or pathology.
  • Update bulletin boards and educational displays, including the "Image of the Week."
  • Report equipment issues, supply needs, or workflow concerns to program faculty in a timely manner.
  • Participate in other duties or special projects as assigned by program faculty to support lab operations.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be Federal Work Study eligible (you can confirm your eligibility with a Financial Aid representative)
  • Current sophomore student in the Radiologic Technology Program.
  • In good academic and clinical standing.
  • Basic knowledge of radiographic imaging procedures and equipment components.
  • Ability to follow written protocols and accurately complete technical tasks.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to report equipment or lab issues clearly.
  • Availability for a consistent weekly schedule, minimum 3 hours per week.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in learning about imaging equipment maintenance and quality assurance practices.
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently


Additional Information:

Pay Rate: $15.50/hour
Hours per week: Up to 20 hours/week
