Overview

The Lewis Center for the Arts seeks technical support for the analog photography facilities and classes. The analog facilities supervisor position provides critical support for the photography faculty and students in the analog darkroom, including technical instruction and assistance to both faculty and students on an as needed basis, inside and outside of class time. The position is responsible for the inventory, procurement of supplies and equipment, and the preparation of classes including both black and white and color processes. This position is also responsible for chemical inventory and supporting required safety and hazardous waste collection procedures, managing maintenance and repair of equipment, including the color print processor. This is a temporary, part-time 24-hour/week position.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain cameras and analog darkroom equipment including RA-4 color print processor, enlargers.
  • Maintain chemical inventory, inks, paper and other equipment for class use
  • Oversee Lab Safety and Silver Recovery collection
  • Compile and update lab instructions manuals
  • Assist students in the use of analog photography equipment outside of class time for additional one on one technical instruction
  • Conduct workshops and demonstrations for students as needed
  • Instruct and familiarize new faculty with photography facilities as needed
  • Assist faculty during class time
  • Oversee a clear check-out system to distribute supplies to students and maintain a detailed inventory
  • Purchase photography equipment and supplies in partnership with the Program Manager

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience
  • Thorough knowledge of analog black and white photography darkroom processes and procedures, darkroom equipment and safety standards
  • Excellent organizational skills, dependable, good communication skills, friendly and open with both faculty and students alike
  • Must be flexible, able to work independently and as a team
  • Knowledge and experience in analog color darkroom, a plus
