Development Associate



The Division of Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement (PAE) at the University of Pittsburgh is dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships with donors, alumni, and stakeholders, supporting the University's mission in education, research, and healthcare. In this role, you will serve as the integral part within PAE's University Development department, reporting to the Director of Development, Pitt Social Work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support Fundraising Strategies Assist in the implementation of fundraising efforts to advance the mission of the Pitt School of Social Work.
  • Donor Stewardship Lead stewardship activities to maintain and strengthen relationships with current and potential donors.
  • Event Coordination Plan, organize, and execute events that support alumni and donor engagement.
  • Alumni Engagement Develop and implement initiatives to connect and engage the School’s alumni community.
  • Communications Manage alumni-related communications, including newsletters, outreach campaigns, and event promotions.
  • Collaboration with PAE Work in partnership with the Division of Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement to align strategies and foster a vibrant, inclusive advancement community.
  • Diversity & Inclusion Contribution Participate in PAE’s efforts to cultivate an inclusive workplace that values diverse identities and perspectives.

Job Summary

Works with higher gift officers to increase effectiveness of fundraising efforts. Prepares written materials to reflect proposals. Develops prospect interest and strategically solicits funds.


Essential Functions
  • Support Fundraising Strategies Assist in the implementation of fundraising efforts to advance the mission of the Pitt School of Social Work.

  • Donor Stewardship Lead stewardship activities to maintain and strengthen relationships with current and potential donors.

  • Event Coordination Plan, organize, and execute events that support alumni and donor engagement.

  • Alumni Engagement Develop and implement initiatives to connect and engage the School’s alumni community.

Physical Effort

Light - Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
