Altarum’s Community Health Practice Area is seeking a Senior Technical Assistance (TA) Specialist with behavioral health (BH) expertise to support multiple projects focused on substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and peer recovery support services.
The successful candidate will lead a range of TA activities, including virtual trainings and TA events, development of TA resources and products, TA site visits, and individual TA to providers. This position requires working effectively with State clients, management, contractors, consultants, and care providers. You will have the opportunity to use your knowledge of behavioral health services to generate insights that inform public health and health services solutions. Responsibilities
- Lead the provision oftraining and TA to SUD treatment and recovery service providers across Michigan, both virtually and on-site as needed
- Provide input to inform decisions regarding TA requests and processes, including determining scope of work, necessary resources, TA modality, and timeline
- Assess, plan, and provide training and TA related to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices such as recovery incentives at the provider-level
- Lead,design and deliver training and TA on a variety of content areas associated with the peerrecovery support services workforcefor adults and youth
- Provide consultative expertise and recommendations to clients and grantees as requested
- Lead the development ofTA packages, reports, memos, tools, toolkits, online learning courses, and webinar presentations
- Recruit and collaborate with expert consultants to provide training and TA on a variety of topics
- Work collaboratively with other Altarum staff on projects, and collaboratively with other external TA providers
- Work directly with clients to ensure that tasks are executed successfully and with high-quality
- Contribute to federal, state, and philanthropic proposal efforts, as needed
Qualifications
- Master’s degree (social work, counselor, public health, social sciences, or related-degree)
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience with SUD and peer recovery support services in a clinical setting
- 15% Travel throughout Michigan and/or 8-10% to other states as needed.
- Experience providing TA on State contracts and/or with grassroots community organizations
- Experience participating in practice quality improvement processes using Plan, Do, Study, Act or other methods
- Experience in developing TA protocols, materials, resources, and tools
- Experience in knowledge transfer through meeting, training, and workshop design
- Experience in developing technological media learning strategies
- Desire to integrate research, technical, analytical, and consulting skills to serve the public good and improve human health
- Excellent critical and analytical thinking, willingness to step into new roles, strong communication and facilitation skills, team focused mentality, and a commitment to continuously learning and improving
- Knowledge and expertise in SUD treatment, recovery from behavioral health disorders, organizational and program development, and organizational collaboration and coalition building
- A portion of this role requires providing onsite technical assistance within the state Michigan, and other states.
Logistical Requirements
- At this time we will only accept candidates who are presently eligible to work in the United States and will not require sponsorship.
- Our organization requires that all work, for the duration of your employment, must be completed in the continental U.S. unless required by contract.
- If you are local to our offices in Arlington, Silver Spring or Novi this role will be hybrid (in office on Wednesdays - collaboration days).
- Must be able to work during eastern time unless approved by your manager.
- Employees working remotely must have a dedicated, ergonomically appropriate workspace free from distractions with a mobile device that allows for productive and efficient conduct of business.

Individual compensation packages are based on numerous factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. This salary range is not a guarantee of compensation, as the final offer amount will vary based on these factors.
