Position

TRIUMPH is seeking a Mechanical Design Checker to join our West Hartford, CT team. The Mechanical Design Checker is responsible for applying GD&T principles to ensure successful assembly and operation of various mechanical items that include but are not limited to Fuel Pumps, Vapor Cycle Systems and Actuators. 

Responsibilities

•Review drafting layout requirements with the intention of providing assurance of mechanical function.
•Work with Design, Drafting and Analysis to meet the needs of the design requirements.
•Provide design solutions to resolve mechanical issues.
•Generate and perform relevant mechanical design and review with respect to fuel pumping systems, vapor cooling systems, and/or actuation systems.

Qualifications

•BSME with 5 – 10 years of related experience preferred or associate’s degree with 15+ years aerospace specific design experience. 
•Must have the ability to read, understand and mark-up complex mechanical detail and assembly drawings.
•Must have the ability to understand and apply GD&T fundamentals.
•Must be able to perform complex assembly tolerance studies.
•Knowledge of turbine engine fuel/oil pump design, environmental control system packaging and component design is a plus.
•Knowledge of high-speed rotating systems/assemblies is a plus.
•Strong technical communication skills (written and verbal).
•Ability and willingness to travel  
•Capability in 3D solid modelling, preferably UG NX a plus.
•Knowledge of casting and machining principles.
•Understanding of valve function and design a plus.
•Self-motivated and ability to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team.
•Ability to meet project deadlines/schedule within budget.
