About the role: 

This role employs an entrepreneurial approach to develop market participation in PenAir's business services. The primary responsibilities include building relationships with businesses within the community to drive account and loan production and continuously improve PenAir's product offerings. Additionally, the role involves implementing and managing the activities and functions of the commercial lending process, including but not limited to sales, service, systems, and compliance. Developing new business within PenAir's market area, targeting specific segments to ensure the establishment and refinement of procedures, is also a key aspect of the role. Achieving established profitability, production, and efficiency goals are essential. The role also includes recommending efforts directed towards members, potential members, and service providers, or any initiatives within established budgets and policies that result in meeting assigned production goals, increasing market share, acquiring new members, and developing and retaining profitable members.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implements a call program that includes contacting existing members to maintain and expand banking relationships and contacting prospective members to develop new business.
  • Responsible for analysis of relevant statistics for the business development plan making recommendations to management when required.
  • Maintains high product knowledge by learning new selling techniques, new products and market trends. 
  • Identifies cross-sell opportunities and cross-sell services to members through in-person sales sessions as well as by telephone, written correspondence, and external sales calls.
  • Assists in the development of promotional strategies to meet business development goals; develops promotional materials.
  • Conducts training sessions for all employees to enhance their awareness of the business development plan and services available to existing and potential members.
  • Represents the Credit Union at various functions to develop business relationships.
  • Discusses member needs, problems, or complaints, and arranges for meetings between members or prospective members and representatives of various credit union functional areas.
  • Performs other job-related duties required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience 10 years to 15 years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
  • Education/Certifications/Licenses: (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g. information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
  • Interpersonal Skills: The ability to motivate or influence internal or external senior level professionals is a critical part of the job, requiring a significant level of influence and trust. Obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequently complex, senior level dialogues, as well as a professional level of written communication skills are essential to the position.
  • Other Skills Exceptional member service skills; sound problem solving and decision-making skills; good judgement; professional written, verbal and nonverbal communication skills; adheres to timelines and schedules; shows initiative in development and completion of projects; highly developed analytical and underwriting expertise; credit quality focus.
