Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama’s Financial Aid department is seeking to hire a Financial Aid Officer I. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions

These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential Functions
  • Assists the Senior Associate Director in professional judgment cases.
  • Assists in calculating satisfactory academic progress for federal aid applicants.
  • Counsels and advises students and families regarding the application process for federal aid.
  • Serves as the point of contact for students participating in Study Abroad programs.
  • Works closely with the Financial Aid Officer II to assist with administering the Federal Work Study (FWS) and Job Location and Development (JLD) programs.
  • Coordinates with Career Services regarding JLD and student employment postings, including initial postings and follow-ups to see if jobs were filled using the Handshake/12twenty software.
  • Serves as backup for processing of timesheets for FWS students.
  • Represents the Office of Financial Aid at various events, including outreach with area employers to help grow/develop JLD program at USA.
  • Designs and maintains social media platforms, including developing content.
  • Utilizes various Department of Education systems in determining eligibility for federal aid.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
  • Related duties as required.
