About the Role:

Spartronics is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Rework Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with printed circuit board assemblies (PCAs) and will be responsible for restoring these assemblies to their original functional state or meeting IPC-610 standards.

In this role, you will perform rework and repair tasks, troubleshoot issues, and ensure quality control throughout the process. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of electronic components, soldering techniques, and the ability to work accurately under time constraints.


Essential Job Functions

  • Repair broken printed circuit assemblies (PCAs) by soldering, replacing parts, and modifying circuits.
  • Carefully remove and replace surface-mounted and through-hole components, including leadless devices like BGAs and micro-BGAs.
  • Fix damaged pads, barrels, and traces, ensuring all repairs meet quality standards through testing and inspection.
  • Maintain records of repairs, including labor hours and materials used.
  • Handle and mark assemblies properly.
  • Use problem-solving skills to address manufacturing challenges quickly.
  • Participate in training to improve skills and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Follow safety protocols in the rework area to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to share challenges and propose solutions and improvements.
  • Other assigned duties may be assigned as needed.
Requirements:

Education, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Electronics Technology, electronics training, or equivalent education/experience (preferred).
  • At least 2 years of related work experience (required).
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using a variety of hand tools for assembly, disassembly, and repair.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy and high quality in all repairs and rework.
  • Ability to identify and address damaged or nonconforming issues through rework.
  • Capable of operating a microscope and soldering according to IPC–610 standards.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance (preferred).

Provided Training:

  • Advanced Soldering Operator
  • Mil-Aero Soldering Operator
  • Tin Whisker Mitigation Operator
  • Obtain your IPC 7711 and 7721 certifications within 90 days of employment.

Work Schedule

  • 4-day/10-hour work week
  • Shift 1: Monday - Thursday, 5:30 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Shift 2: Monday - Thursday, 4:00 PM – 2:30 AM
  • Overtime: The goal is to limit overtime, but it is a reality in the manufacturing industry.

Shift Differential:

  • 2nd shift employees receive an additional $1.50 per hour in addition to their base hourly rate.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to reach overhead, often.
  • Prolonged and repetitive soldering and other hand operations. Requires gripping, twisting, and pinching with both hands and fingers.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for up to 10 hours.
  • Must be able to look in and work with a microscope.
  • Repetitive twisting at the waist.
