SUMMARY

We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Equipment Maintenance Trainee to join our team. This entry-level position is to prepare candidates for a successful career in equipment maintenance. The Equipment Maintenance Technician Trainee will work under the guidance of experienced equipment maintenance tech, assisting with equipment operations, learning the ins and outs of machinery, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment. This role is ideal for individuals eager to learn a skilled trade and grow within the industry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist equipment maintenance technicians: Support lead technicians by preparing materials, setting up workstations, and handling tools and equipment as directed.
  • Material Preparation: Clean and prepare area for equipment maintenance to include identifying appropriate tools.
  • Tool and Equipment Handling: Safely operate and maintain hand tools and power tools under supervision.
  • Worksite Maintenance: Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards, including removing debris and organizing materials.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and safety glasses.
  • Quality Support: Assist in inspecting materials to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards, as directed.
  • Inventory and Supplies: Help track and replenish maintenance supplies.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with equipment maintenance technicians and other team members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
  • Learning and Development: Demonstrate a willingness to learn, take direction, and apply feedback to improve skills and performance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and eagerness to learn.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in various conditions (e.g., heat, noise, or confined spaces).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • No prior equipment maintenance experience required; however, any experience in mechanics or engines is a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be physically capable of working a 12-hour day. Requires average strength, physical dexterity, and agility
  • Must follow strict safety procedures
  • Must be able to regularly stand for long periods of time; work on scaffolds and ladders; work on top of machinery; work in confined spaces
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, confined spaces, precarious places, and work well in close proximity to other employees
  • Overtime or shift work may be involved
  • Travel may be required
  • There may be risk of injury to self and/or others due to a hazardous environment, electric shock, falls, and cuts, etc

  • Computer, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, adding machine, scanner
  • Dehumidifiers, dust collectors, vacuums, forklifts, electrical disconnects and transformers, compressors
  • Electrical tools including hand tools and power tools and accessories
