Job purpose

The A-Shift Supervisor is responsible for A-Shift personnel to support meeting internal and external customer requirements. Individual will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the A-shift and Assembly production for the Rochester plant.

 

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate all activities related to A-Shift production and maximize productivity while maintaining safety, quality and on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate and execute plans to meet existing customer due dates and support new customer business.
  • Ensure adherence to safe work practices, report all accidents and work with EHS Coordinator to resolve any safety concerns.
  • Participate in root cause and corrective action for product quality failures and conduct audits.
  • Track status of production: Analyze serious delays, troubleshoot problems and take remedial action.
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities including: interviewing & hiring, training, coaching & discipline, directing work, assessing performance, developing talent, motivating team members, maintaining positive work culture.
  • Support and sustain lean manufacturing activities such as Standard Work, 5S, Kanban and other lean tools.
  • Mindset of driving continuous improvements in areas such as reducing production lead times, facility organization and cleanliness and increased efficiencies. 
  • Strive to develop, foster and maintain a positive, challenging work environment that motivates different skill sets and cultures that yields idea generation and implementation.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Operations, Business, Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of proven leadership experience managing teams in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing environment is desired.
  • Experience operating within AS9100 (preferred) or ISO systems.
  • Level of travel required: < 5% of the time for site or customer visits.
  • Strong computer skills including high proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

 

Working conditions

  • May be exposed to industrial oils, toner, coolants, solvents, lubricants, adhesive and other chemicals.   NOTE:   All safety precautions will be used.
  • Could work in areas with excessive noise.  NOTE: Ear protection available.
  • Will work in both a manufacturing environment as well as an office environment

 

Physical requirements

  • Could require intermittent and long periods of sitting and/or standing.
  • Periodic lifting of materials and files not to exceed 40 pounds.
