Fathom Manufacturing is seeking a results-driven Commercial Account Manager to drive customer growth, margin expansion, and cross-site selling within the greater Chicagoland manufacturing ecosystem. This role is embedded at our Elk Grove Village facility — one of the most strategically positioned manufacturing hubs in the country — and is responsible for expanding our customer footprint within a 100-mile radius.
This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for a commercial professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, understands how to unlock growth at the site level, and wants to play a direct role in shaping the future of a key facility within a leading national advanced manufacturing network.
Primary Responsibilities
Drive Regional Growth: Proactively identify, pursue, and win new customers within a 100-mile radius of Elk Grove Village, leveraging Fathom’s full capabilities across CNC machining, additive manufacturing, sheet metal, and more.
Increase Site Utilization: Own the commercial responsibility for keeping the Elk Grove site at or above 80% production capacity, aligning growth with operational readiness.
Cross-Sell Across Network: Expand customer relationships beyond Elk Grove by introducing adjacent Fathom capabilities and facilities to meet broader customer needs.
Deliver Financial Impact: Partner closely with the Site GM and Finance to ensure site-level EBITDA targets are met or exceeded through mix improvement, pricing strategy, and volume growth.
Own Commercial Reporting: Ensure timely and accurate reporting of site-level commercial KPIs to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), including win rates, quote velocity, pipeline growth, and customer retention metrics.
Partner Cross-Functionally: Work in tight coordination with marketing, quoting, project management, customer service, and centralized RevOps teams to deliver a seamless customer experience and maximize win probability.
Proven success in B2B sales, account management, or territory development — ideally in a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial services context
Strong understanding of solution selling and ability to communicate technical value to diverse customer stakeholders
Local presence with ability to travel frequently to customer sites across the region
Data-driven mindset with attention to pipeline, forecast accuracy, and commercial accountability
Growth-oriented attitude — motivated by impact, upside, and the ability to own and transform a territory
This is not a traditional account management role. This is a commercial ownership opportunity — with the tools, autonomy, and support to grow a manufacturing facility’s customer base and financial performance. You’ll be the face of the Elk Grove site to the local market and a critical driver of its success.
Top performers in this role have a clear path toward senior commercial leadership, including site leadership and expanded strategic responsibilities.
