We are seeking a 2nd shift skilled Tool and Die Maker to craft, maintain, and repair precision tools, dies, and specialized parts used in manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of metal properties, fabrication techniques, and precision measurement tools.
How You Will Help
Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models to understand specifications.
Operate and maintain machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC equipment.
Manufacture, assemble, and test tools, dies, and machine parts to ensure functionality and quality.
Use precision instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to measure and inspect finished parts.
Repair or modify existing tools and dies to meet updated specifications or correct defects.
Collaborate with engineers and production staff to troubleshoot and optimize tooling processes.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety regulations.
Perform routine maintenance on machines and tools to ensure optimal performance.
Design and fabricate jigs, fixtures, and gauges to support production and quality assurance processes.
Conduct trial runs of tools and dies to ensure proper functionality before full-scale production.
Analyze and resolve tooling issues by modifying designs or machining processes.
Maintain detailed records of tool and die maintenance, repairs, and modifications.
Train and mentor junior machinists or apprentices in tool and die practices.
Collaborate with design and engineering teams to improve manufacturability and reduce production costs.
Ensure compliance with ISO and other quality management system standards.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
Monitor tool wear and recommend replacements or refurbishments to minimize downtime.
Assist in the development of preventive maintenance schedules for tooling equipment.
What You Will Bring
High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational or apprenticeship program in tool and die making preferred.
3+ years of experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in reading blueprints and using CAD software.
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
