Research Assistant Professor – Computational Organic Chemistry

Job Description:

A research assistant professor position in computational chemistry is available in the Peng Liu group at the Department of Chemistry, University of Pittsburgh. The candidate is expected to use quantum mechanics, molecular dynamics, and data science tools to study the mechanisms of catalytic organic reactions and enzymatic reactions.

Job Qualifications:

• PhD in Computational Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related discipline.

• Postdoctoral research experience in a related discipline.

• Strong background in electronic structure calculations and molecular dynamics simulations.

• Experience in collaborations with experimental organic and biocatalysis research groups.

• Experience in using machine learning tools in chemical research.

• Expertise in using a variety of computational chemistry software packages.

• Demonstrated competence in computational chemistry and organic chemistry.

• Effective communication skills, including the ability to write peer-reviewed journal articles, present research findings to experimental collaborators, and create and give oral presentations at scientific conferences.
