Post Doctoral Associate
UPCI Basic Research Administration - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (25003179)
The post-doc is expected to independently design analytic pipelines, perform basic molecular biology laboratory experiments, animal model work, select or author novel algorithms, and optimize sequencing and imaging protocols without day-to-day supervision. They will pilot new reagents (e.g., spatial-omics chemistries) and establish standard operating procedures after benchmarking. Author/draft data-analysis sections for grants and manuscripts.
Requirements are: Doctorate in PhD, MD/PhD, DDS/PhD in cancer biology, pharmacology, immunology, computational biology, or a related field with hands-on experience analyzing RNASeq, WES, single-cell or spatial-omics data +/- building machine-learning models in Python/R. Must have a track record of designing and executing murine tumor studies—ideally using syngeneic models—and have some expereince in integrating multi-modal datasets ( ie: WES, RNA-seq, imaging, digital H&E) to study the tumor microenvironment. Strong coding, statistics, and manuscript-writing skills are encouraged but not required; prior work in head-and-neck cancer or immuno-oncology is a plus.
Generate and analyze multi-omic datasets to discover prognostic/predictive biomarkers. Build, train, and interpret AI models that link poly-omics and digital pathology features with clinical outcomes.
Work with mouse models to develop and assess responses to novel drug therapies.
Prepare figures, manuscripts, and grant sections; present findings at national meetings. Mentor junior trainees and enforce best practices in bioinformatics, statistics, and lab safety. Ensure all work complies with IRB, HIPAA, and institutional data-security policies.
