Position Summary: 

Comtech is seeking a driven and strategic Sales Representative II to fuel our sales engine through proactive lead and demand generation. This critical role centers on targeting public agencies, specifically Emergency Call Centers (ECCs) and Primary Safety Answering Points (PSAPs). The SR II will excel at identifying high-potential prospects, initiating meaningful conversations, and qualifying leads to build a robust sales pipeline. By leveraging multi-channel outreach, industry insights, and consultative engagement, the SR II will lay the foundation for long-term client relationships and drive Comtech’s growth in the public safety sector. 

As a Sales Development Representative, you will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth and market expansion in the Public Safety industry. With a focus on selling Comtech’s call handling solutions that serve both legacy and ESInet networks. Our solution is offered in several deployment models. Traditional on-prem, hosted 911aaS, and a micro services browser-based cloud solution. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Generation: Proactively identify and research potential clients within public safety agencies (e.g., police, fire, EMS) using various tools, databases, and outreach methods.
  • Outbound Prospecting: Initiate contact through cold calls, emails, and social media to engage decision-makers and introduce Comtech’s call handling equipment.
  • Qualification: Assess prospect needs and qualify leads based on budget, authority, need, and timeline (BANT) to ensure alignment with Comtech’s solutions.
  • Pipeline Development: Collaborate with Account Executives to hand off qualified leads and maintain a steady flow of opportunities in the sales pipeline.
  • CRM Management: Accurately log all activities, interactions, and lead progress in the CRM system to ensure data integrity and support sales forecasting.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor offerings, and the evolving needs of public safety agencies to tailor outreach strategies.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and nurture early-stage relationships with prospects to build trust and position Comtech as a trusted partner.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with marketing and sales teams to align on campaigns, messaging, and strategies to maximize lead generation efforts.

Requirements:

  • Telecommunications industry technical understanding. 
  • Experience promoting and selling 9-1-1 call handling solutions.
  • Experience in CAD, MAP, cloud-based platforms or other related PSAP solutions.  
  • Experience with MEDDICC / MEDDPICCR or similar sales methodology.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in sales, business development, or a related role, preferably in B2B technology or equipment sales. Experience with public sector sales is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical solutions to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and prospecting tools (e.g., LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo).
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage high-volume outreach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with public safety agencies or call handling equipment is highly desirable but not required.
