Job Summary
The University of Kentucky is seeking motivated and hard-working individuals who thrive in environments that offer task variety and who enjoy working on a team to fill its STEPS Custodial Worker positions.

This position reports directly to the Custodial Supervisor and performs daily custodial services requirements provided within assigned zone area(s) including:

  • General Cleaning and trash removal; cleaning various building room types and surfaces (i.e. restrooms, offices, lobbies, elevators, medical areas, etc.).
  • Applying proper cleaning techniques which may include vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, stripping and waxing, dusting, spot cleaning, etc.
  • Restocking all fixtures (toilet paper, towels, soap, and sanitizer)
  • Utilizing various equipment to complete job duties (i.e. vacuum cleaners, floor machines, etc.)

In addition, the STEPS Custodial Worker:

  • Demonstrates excellent customer service for internal and external customers.
  • Communicates with Custodial Supervisor and/or Custodial Team Lead customer needs, providing an appropriate response to the customer.
  • Demonstrates compliance with quality assurance inspections – maintain appropriate inventory supply levels, request re-orders, compliance with PPE usage, proper use of cautionary signage, proper use of cleaning chemicals, and compliance with safety codes (OSHA, EPA, etc).
  • Operates and maintains equipment in a safe manner and requests repairs, as needed.
