UAV PILOT SUMMARY: The UAV Pilot is responsible for operating unmanned aircraft systems to collect aerial data, in addition to their regular job duties. This includes performing flight operations, safety checks, basic maintenance, and ensuring compliance with FAA regulations. The role may be considered safety-sensitive depending on the drone size and operational use.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Conduct ground and flight operations
  • Takes into account the weather, route, fuel or technical requirements of the UAS, and objective.
  • Remote pilot a drone, following a specific flight plan or obtaining useful data
  • Conduct flight demonstrations if necessary
  • Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight safety checks
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues
  • Ensure compliance with all FAA regulations

REQUIRMENTS:


QUALIFICATIONS: Individuals having these additional duties must meet the requirements of their primary position and hold a current Remote Pilot Certificate. Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record. This position will service NWA with the potential for other statewide travel, if need be, but primarily working out of the Rogers office with the Fayetteville office being secondary.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 2 years of the minimum 5 years' experience required must by UAV related.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must have ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Must be able to identify, record, and complete survey calculations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
