The Department of Geology and Environmental Science (http://www.geology.pitt.edu) at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a Part-Time Instructor position to co-teach Sustainability for the academic year 2025-2026. The position is outside of the tenure stream. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Geology & Environmental Science courses at the undergraduate level.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Co-teaching Geology 1333 Sustainability at the undergraduate level, for the 2025-2026 Academic Year (fall term – 2261 and spring term – 2264).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Hold a master’s or terminal degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field at the time of appointment.
  • Applicants should have experience in Sustainability and Environmental Science.
  • Ability to teach undergraduate courses in Geology & Environmental Science.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Hold a Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field at the time of appointment.
  • Research background appropriate to collaborate with existing faculty in the department.
  • Demonstrated ability to publish in respected peer-reviewed academic journals.

The start date is August 15, 2025.

Salary will be commensurate with experience. Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating excellent teamwork, organizational, and communication skills, and who are excited to join a highly collaborative environment.??This role is designated as on-site and requires incumbents to report to work at the University of Pittsburgh. The position requires moderate standing, walking, lifting, and computer-based tasks.
