Primary Location: Quantico, VA

Clearance: Active DoD Secret Clearance


Job Summary

The Senior Database Administrator will support the sustainment and modernization of the Marine Corps' enterprise logistics system, GCSS-MC. This role focuses on Oracle EBS database performance, capacity management, and audit compliance in a high-availability, mission-critical environment. The ideal candidate brings deep Oracle expertise and a proactive mindset to ensure operational continuity, data integrity, and system resilience. The position requires supporting Oracle EBS in production environments with 24/7 uptime requirements and large user bases while maintaining compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Lead database administration for Oracle EBS environments supporting GCSS-MC, including PROD, PSS, and DR/COOP
  • Perform performance tuning, patching, and capacity forecasting to ensure system reliability and availability
  • Support the GCSS-MC Operations Center (GOC) by resolving Tier 3 incidents, conducting RCAs, and maintaining audit-ready data integrity
  • Collaborate with interface and data teams to ensure seamless data flow and compliance with audit controls
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and DevSecOps workflows to support iterative delivery and system enhancements
  • Manage high-availability architectures and disaster recovery strategies in mission-critical systems
  • Conduct backup/recovery operations and ensure database security practices compliance
  • Lead root cause analysis and resolve complex database and interface issues under tight operational timelines
  • Maintain audit compliance with frameworks such as FISCAM and NIST 800-53


Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field
  • 7–10 years of experience in Oracle database administration, with a focus on enterprise-scale ERP systems
  • Proven experience managing Oracle EBS environments, including performance tuning, capacity planning, and backup/recovery operations
  • Strong understanding of high-availability architectures and disaster recovery strategies in mission-critical systems
  • Experience supporting production environments with 24/7 uptime requirements and large user bases
  • Familiarity with database security practices and compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards
  • IAT Level I certification (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent)
  • Ability to lead root cause analysis and resolve complex database and interface issues under tight operational timelines
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • Experience supporting Oracle EBS in a production environment
  • Experience with Oracle Exadata, ZFS, and Logical Volume Management (LVM)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) certifications
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps pipelines and CI/CD tools for database code promotion and automation
  • Experience with audit compliance frameworks such as FISCAM, NIST 800-53, and tools like Tableau or HighBond
  • Exposure to Agile/SAFe environments and participation in Planning Increments (PIs), sprint reviews, and backlog grooming
  • Experience with interface troubleshooting and data integrity assurance across complex ERP ecosystems
  • Knowledge of AI/ML-assisted monitoring and predictive analytics for proactive database performance management
  • Experience working in Agile or DevSecOps environments

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Secure office environment at Quantico, VA with no remote work capability
  • Ability to work extended hours and be available for emergency database incidents in 24/7 operations
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on database administration and system monitoring
  • Must be able to work in a classified environment and handle sensitive operational data
  • Occasional travel may be required for training, system upgrades, or disaster recovery testing

Travel

  • Minimal travel required for training, Oracle conferences, disaster recovery exercises, or system maintenance activities
