CNC Wood Manager Overview

 

We are seeking an experienced and motivated CNC Wood Manager to lead the full-cycle production of our wood decking product line. This position will manage a team of CNC router operators, painters, and material handlers, ensuring efficient operations, consistent quality, and on-time delivery of customer orders. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, technically proficient in CNC programming, and an effective leader capable of inspiring team performance and maintaining a safe, organized production environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the CNC Wood department, including planning, production, scheduling, and quality assurance.
  • Program and troubleshoot CNC routers to operate at maximum efficiency and produce highest yield rates on cut material.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and customer specifications to ensure product accuracy.
  • Supervise and support team members (painters, CNC operators, material handlers) to meet production and quality goals.
  • Create and manage travelers/jobs in ERP system and maintain accurate production records.
  • Oversee inventory accuracy and order supplies as needed for continuous production.
  • Ensure all jobs are prepared, processed, shipped, and delivered in accordance with deadlines and customer specifications.
  • Work directly with Account Managers, Site Manager, and vendors to communicate and execute production needs.
  • Lead and document training of staff using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and On-the-Job Training (OJT).
  • Track, route, and prioritize work orders using software tools and production schedules.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with safety protocols.
  • Support ongoing improvements in productivity, safety, and quality through hands-on leadership and employee engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or CNC environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of basic CNC machinery, G-code programming, and related software (enroute software).
  • Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and shipping schedules.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English with excellent communication skills.
  • Basic math proficiency and ability to use measuring tools, including tape measures and calipers.
  • Competency in using computer systems for production tracking and ERP systems.
  • Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and motivate a team.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends based on production needs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks that involve standing, climbing, squatting, or crawling.
  • Must be able to work in variable temperatures and complete forklift certification if required.
