GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Manager of Safety, Security, Fleet & Facilities is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing programs that ensure the safety, security, functionality, and regulatory compliance of company facilities, fleet, and personnel. This role serves as a strategic partner across departments—building strong relationships with operations, contractors, and leadership to support a safe, clean, and operationally sound work environment. The position also manages vendor relationships, coordinates preventative maintenance, and leads emergency response efforts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance documentation, permits, records, and vendor contracts.
- Provide routine reports to leadership regarding safety incidents, facility and fleet performance, and project updates.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain department budget and purchasing activities.
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement through coaching and clear standards.
- Remain on-call for emergencies related to facilities, safety, and fleet incidents.
Safety & Security Oversight
- Develop and implement company-wide safety and security policies; ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.
- Conduct safety audits, warehouse/facility walkthroughs (minimum 3 times/month), and job site inspections.
- Identify risks, threats, and vulnerabilities; develop response strategies accordingly.
- Lead and document incident investigations, safety audits, and root cause analyses; track metrics and identify trends.
- Manage and conduct employee training on safety procedures and expectations; oversee SDS accessibility and training.
- Serve as the main point of contact for client and internal safety concerns; attend client safety meetings as needed.
- Oversee contractor safety and onboarding processes.
- Lead Workers’ Compensation claims and incident follow-up in coordination with HR.
Fleet Management
- Manage operations and maintenance of all vehicles, including company trucks, forklifts, and order selectors.
- Conduct regular vehicle audits for documentation, cleanliness, and operational readiness.
- Ensure registration, licensing, repairs, servicing, and insurance are current and compliant.
- Establish fleet policies and procedures; ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance.
- Provide on-call support for fleet-related incidents and emergencies.
Facilities Management
- Oversee maintenance, cleanliness, and functionality of all company facilities, including offices, warehouses, parking lots, and outdoor spaces.
- Supervise contractors performing work on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management systems.
- Maintain and oversee access systems, fire suppression, security systems, and emergency protocols.
- Manage facility capital improvement projects and ensure completion within scope, budget, and timelines.
- Schedule and supervise preventive maintenance and small renovation projects (painting, carpentry, etc.).
- Partner with accounting and leadership on vendor contracts and budgeting for maintenance and capital expenses.
- Organize and lead facility team meetings in their designated work office, Austin or Houston

KEY SELECTION AND SUCCESS FACTORS
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of experience in safety, security, fleet, or facilities management (combination preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to manage vendors, lead teams, and execute capital projects
- Office furniture experience preferred
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree in Occupational Safety, Safety Management or a related field strongly preferred. An additional 5 years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree with OSHA Certification
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and building code regulations
OTHER/PREFERRED:
- Ability to lead others, gain respect of all levels of employees and model safety throughout the organization
- Must be able to answer calls from alarm companies, etc during any hour and day (approximately 5-8 per month)
- Knowledge of Texas Workers Compensation rules and regulations
- Knowledge of City of Houston fire codes
- Must have excellent facilitation skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent organizational skills and strong interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Able to travel to customer and other job sites and respond to emergencies as needed
