Mathematical and comprehension test will be administered prior to an interview. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

DEPARTMENT: Relay 

DUTIES: Under general directive supervision of journeyman. 

A. Receives oral assignments and instruction in performing various duties by assisting and accompanying journeyman on maintenance, installation, and repair of communication and relay equipment.  Works around energized equipment. 

B. Assists in performing shop work by obtaining materials for projects, using tools to cut, drill, and assemble material into finished form.  May clean equipment and perform such disassembly and assembly of equipment as necessary for cleaning.  Maintains shop areas in a clean and safe manner. 

C. Loads and unloads trucks and transports material to job sites.  Learns proper procedure for transporting and storing test equipment to prevent damage. 

D. Cleans and paints various equipment as needed and assists journeyman in overhaul of equipment on periodic maintenance schedule. 

E. Assists in installing equipment by performing duties as directed by the journeyman and providing tools necessary for installation.  Assists in pulling communications and relay wires and cables for power or signal circuits.  Climbs towers to assist journeyman in necessary work. 

F. Performs all work in a safe manner and conforms with safety rules established by the Company; receives first aid instruction and instruction in safety procedures and practice. 

G. Performs other related and assigned duties.
